The Aspire Learning Federation is made up of two schools - Elm Park Primary School and R J Mitchell Primary School in the London Borough of Havering.

Welcome to Year One! We are very excited about our learning for Autumn 2. This will be full of exciting new challenges and lots of fun along the way. We look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the year. Here you will find all the information you need to support your child’s learning including class activities, homework guidelines, and upcoming events. Our aim is to create a fun and engaging environment where every child can thrive. Keep an eye out for updates and resources that will help you and your child make the most of this year!

PE Days

Day - Monday - Outdoor PE

Day - Friday - Indoor PE

Children should come to school in their PE Kit on these days. This should include a black tracksuit or black shorts/leggings in the summer, plain black trainers or plimsoles and a plain/RJM logo school colour T-shirt. Hair should be tied back and no jewellery including earrings should be worn.

Our Curriculum & Homework

Continuous home learning of basic skills such as reading and number work is very important because it helps children build strong foundations for future learning.

We expect children to read at least three times a week at home to improve their fluency, comprehension and confidence. They should also practice basic number skills including number bonds, doubling/ halving and times tables (links to TTRS and Numbots can be found below).
